Xenoestrogens: The Little-Known Cause of Weight Gain, Bad Skin and Hormonal Conditions

What the heck are xenoestrogens & why they matter

Xenoestrogens are a fancy term for chemicals (both natural and unnatural) that have estrogenic activity. This means they take up the receptor sites of your naturally occurring estrogen. Think of the receptor sites as being the lock that your estrogen key should fit into. This can’t happen if there is an imposter (xenoestrogen) taking up that site. The result of this process is that your natural estrogen then has nowhere to enter and is left circulating in your bloodstream in large amounts. Large amounts of estrogen causes problems such as obesity, decreased sperm count, increased rates of estrogen-dependent Cancers, and a decreased function of your hormonal system and organs. Ladies think conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, infertility and early puberty.

Where are you being exposed?

EVERYWHERE! They are everywhere!

Just kidding…kind of.

They are everywhere, however, in the name of stress reduction and not worrying about things we cannot control, we will only address the ones that you can control, eliminate and reduce.

Six ways to decrease your toxic (Xenoestrogen) load at home

  1. Source: Plastic drink bottles and containers.
TIP: replace with a stainless steel drink bottle and glass storage container
  2. Source: Perfumes & deodorants.
TIP: replace with natural alternatives that contain no crappy ingredients. I simply use essential oils as my perfume!
  3. Source: Cheap/non-fermented soy e.g. soy milk, tofu, fake meats, TVP, soy yogurt etc.
TIP: Replace with almond milk, coconut milk or cashew milk.
  4. Source: Toxic homecare chemicals e.g. dishwashing liquids, laundry liquid, surface sprays etc.
TIP: Make your own or buy some natural alternatives. You can usually find these in most health food shops. Again, essential oils are my number one choice every time.
  5. Source: Conventional toothpaste
TIP: Go for a natural toothpaste. I like brands such as doTerra, Dr. Bronner & Grants.
  6. Source: Hair care products.
TIP: Go for a natural crap-free shampoo and conditioner. There are LOTS of good brands out there. For example doTerra do a great one infused with essential oils.So my suggestion to you is to get out there and start replacing one of the above things at a time. Before you know it, you will be a xenoestrogen free queen with vibrant hormonal function. Maybe not, but you will be one big leap closer. As always, if you are experiencing hormonal problems, unwanted weight gain, fatigue, or troublesome skin. I highly recommend booking a consult to help get to the bottom of these problems. Your health is too important to put it off any longer.

    Until next time,
    Nat xx
